Aspire Development Fellowship Award

A programme of tools delivered through online media to support postgraduate students, and work based learners.

The aim of programme is be to enable students (postgraduate taught and research), and work based learners to develop stronger personal understanding to inform future career and life decisions. The programme aims to take an individual through a series of tasks which will assist a reflection process of both internal and external factors which in turn will effectively inform future decision making. The delivery of these tools will be through online media, making the project highly innovative. The programme may either be used to underpin a PDP module or as a stand alone development activity which ultimately may be supported by the new Moodle e-portfolio provision.

The project seeks to:

  • Review internal provision of PPD.
  • Review external approaches to online PPD provision.
  • Develop innovative tools to underpin personal and professional development.
  • Pilot the tools and evaluate their impact.

This project aims to develop a programme of tools that are of value to a wide range of learners all of whom will be able to access the materials if they are registered with the College. In addition it is anticipated that this programme may also be utilised by staff wishing to review their own development. As such it is estimated that the tools may be of use to the 80 postgraduate students, an unspecified number of WBL and in excess of 100 staff. It should be noted that whilst the materials will be developed for use by those who have already gained life experience, this will not preclude undergraduates, particularly final year students being able to utilise the materials.
