Accrediting in-company CPD: the MDS experience

Charles and Dani provided an insight, from each side, on how an in-company training programme in which no formal teaching is undertaken by Harper Adams, was developed and accredited as a postgraduate award. The session covered:

  • future developments

Facilitating qualification for the animal health industry in order to meet legislative and CPD needs for 3800 professionals

The team outlined the approaches they have taken to working with the Animal Medicine Training Regulatory Authority (AMTRA), to develop and accredit a programme to provide qualifications to the national animal medicines supplies workforce which operates nationwide. They covered:

  • organisation of nationwide face-to-face delivery
  • adaptations to 'normal' approaches
  • distance learning developments
  • the lessons learned and future developments

Jim, Paul and Keith each provided a glimpse of the work being undertaken with Marks & Spencer Plc, the Environment Agency, the Rural Payments Agency and BASIS (Registration) Ltd - an independent, self-regulatory registration, standards and certification scheme serving the pesticide, fertiliser and allied organisations interests. They shared:

  • how each programme was originated
  • the perceived value of accreditation
  • adaptations to learning, teaching and assessment practices
  • transfer of practices to full-time students
  • the lessons learned and future developments
