Sources of Financial Help

Earn as you learn

Many of our students work part-time in the evenings or weekends, although they are careful not to let their studies or social lives suffer! Some prefer to work in their holiday periods instead. There are lots of jobs available on, or nearby, the campus. They are advertised in the local press, on the web, or in the careers department. And remember, you can also earn money during your placement year where salaries may range from £9,000 to £15,000.

Students with families

If you have dependent children you may be eligible for a Government grant toward childcare, or the Parents Learning Allowance, which can help cover study costs. If you are a full-time student with an adult who is financially dependent on you, you might be eligible for a means tested grant for your dependents. For further details please see www.direct.gov.uk or contact your contact your LA for more information.

Students with disabilities

Students with a disability may be entitled to financial help for study-related costs. Contact your LA for further information or look at www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/EducationAndTraining
