Academic Life
International students attend lectures and seminars alongside their UK colleagues. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students have regular access to English language support classes designed to guide them through UK academic conventions and language use. One-to-one tutorials are also available where support is designed around their individual needs. These are included in the tuition fees.
There is a 2 week pre-sessional program prior to the start of term where international students have the chance to settle in, discover the local area and attend English language classes aimed at preparing them for their course. We strongly recommend that students attend. For details, contact the postgraduate administrator Rachael Hares.
Local area
Harper Adams is situated on a beautiful rural campus in Shropshire, a few miles from the market town of Newport, which provides everyday shopping and leisure facilities. There are bus and train links to nearby towns and cities and at weekends the college provides a regular minibus service for shopping and links with further onward travel.
Accommodation
Many students live on campus but priority is given to those arriving from overseas. There is a variety of accommodation available and where possible, international students live alongside UK students. For details visit the Accommodation Office pages.
Social life
The university college has an active Students' Union that organises events all year round both on and off campus, including sports, visiting speakers, music and parties. The international Society, just one of the many organised clubs, provides additional trips and events for international students to help them see the UK, get to know British culture and make friends.
