Harper Adams University College remains one of the top places to go for specialist agricultural higher education in the UK, according to the Complete University Guide 2013, published today.

The Shropshire University College sits at number four in the overall Agriculture and Forestry subject table, but is ranked first for student satisfaction and joint first for graduate employment.

In the Food Science table, Harper Adams has climbed to 6th place, with the best student satisfaction and best graduate prospects ratings.

The University College is rated fifth for graduate prospects in Business Studies; and climbed from 52 to 43 in the Mechanical Engineering table.  But Harper Adams remains the only university-level institution in the UK to teach agricultural engineering.

Lorraine Westwood, Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “Harper Adams University College continues to be an outstanding leader in the provision of higher education in the rural and land-based sector. This excellent showing in the Complete University Guide is the latest in a series of accolades which Harper Adams now has to its name.”

The new Complete University Guide also includes student testimonials, gathered during the Facebook-based University Face Off competition which closed in March.  Based on the reviews, Harper Adams is five-star rated (out of five) for its teaching, facilities and accommodation.

Asked “what was really good about the experience” they had while studying at Harper Adams,  students and graduates replied:

“Everything! Harper has the most amazing atmosphere: so welcoming, enthusiastic and unique. The Harper spirit is just incredible. Nowhere else has the kind of spirit and joy that Harper has … I can't think of a better place to study! The staff are always around to help with anything you need, on a one-to-one basis. The support system is great. It's rural, spacious, and I wouldn't change a thing.”

“There is a great sense of community throughout the campus and surrounding town from all of the students and teaching staff. The staff do their utmost to ensure the best teaching is available.”

“Everything- I've never been anywhere that has made me feel so comfortable. It's a fantastic place to learn and have loads of fun.”
