A programme of twice yearly one day seminars is being launched in April 2010 at Harper Adams University College. The series of Continuing Professional Development for academics, managers and administrators working with student placements will allow the sharing of good practice and develop a network of placement professionals.
Placement is taken to be any period of vocational experience, paid or unpaid, comprising a mandatory and/or assessed element of an academic course.

11.20 Health and safety in agriculture, equine, countryside, forestry and other high risk sectors - legal and moral obligations, student briefing, visiting tutor obligations, risk assessment and management.
12.10 Overseas placements - legal, academic and pastoral obligations and issues.
13.00 Lunch
13.45 An employer’s perspective - what employers need from the placement office.
14.45 Trouble shooting - delegates’ own case studies and problems are requested to be forwarded prior to the Seminar allowing group discussion and the consideration of the facilitators - names are not required in the interests of confidentiality
