Each summer, Harper Adams opens its doors to local Year Six pupils to experience a day at university. Run in conjunction with Telford & Wrekin Borough Council, the students find out what it is like to be at university. Current undergraduate student ambassadors run workshops where the Year Six pupils discover student life, what a university campus looks like, visiting the teaching facilities such as the engineering workshops, the learning resource centre, and the farm as well as the social facilities of the gym, SU building, and the halls of residences.
The student ambassadors work with them on developing budgeting skills and look at the finance implication of studying at university. For the rest of the day, the Year Six pupils get the opportunity of participating in a practical academic session, in the past this has included, discovering the science of milk production, the technology needed for designing bridges, the creative skills of web design and the investigative skills of examining wildlife.
