Getting Here
Where will I be staying & how do I get there?
All summer school students will have en-suite accommodation
We are located on a single site campus in Newport, Shropshire. You will travel by train to Birmingham, Telford or Stafford train station, where we will meet you by coach. Your exact route is planned for you and details and tickets are sent to you. You do not have to pay anything for the journey. Alternatively, your parents can bring you directly to the campus and we'll reimburse your travel costs.
You will be staying in one of our halls of residence. Male and female students will be accommodated separately but everyone will have their own single study-bedroom with en-suite shower room facilities. We are able to cater for students with disabilities and have three purpose-designed rooms for wheelchair access. We also have carers available for students who may require their assistance.
Your keys are distributed to you upon your arrival on campus. We will provide three meals a day in our cafeteria. We can cater for any special dietary requirements.
All transport, accommodation, food and drinks and social activities are provided for you free of charge.
What do I need to bring?
A good time is guaranteed!
- casual clothing and trainers/comfortable footwear (for social/sporting activities)
- A coat or wet weather stuff, you will be outside some of the time
- a dressier outfit (as we will be having a formal dinner and disco on the final evening)
- personal toiletries, including toothbrush, shampoo, shower gel etc (towels and bed linen will be provided)
- writing equipment (just the bare minimum - a pen would be useful!)
- any prescribed medication
Personal Possessions
We would strongly dissuade you from bringing expensive items onto the campus, such as mobile phones, personal stereo systems and jewellery as Harper Adams University College cannot be held responsible for the theft, loss or damage to personal property. Should you decide to bring your mobile phone, it must be kept turned off at all times during the academic programme. If you are thinking of bringing a camera with you we would recommend that you bring a disposable one.
Money
All of your expenses will be covered, including accommodation, food and travel. Harper Adams University College has a rural setting and is 2 miles from the nearest small town so you will have very few opportunities to spend your own money. There is a small shop on campus and you may wish to purchase soft drinks in the evening from the Lounge Bar. £20 is the maximum amount that we would recommend you bring with you. Harper Adams University College cannot be held responsible for the loss or theft of any money brought with you.
