BSc (Hons) / BSc

Animal Behaviour and Welfare

Having completed a FdSc / HND programme in the area of Animal Welfare & Management, Animal Care or equivalent, you may wish to top this up to a more specialised BSc or BSc (Hons) degree. Studying full time for an academic year will earn you a BSc degree while, for BSc (Hons), you will need to undertake an Honours Research Project over the next six months. Mature students who have been working in the industry since completing their HND course are particularly welcome.

The top up course is closely linked to the existing BSc(Hons) course in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. The key areas to be studied include Principles of Animal Behaviour, Behavioural Methodology and Applied Animal Behaviour. There are also specialist modules for both farm and companion animals in terms of behaviour and welfare. Graduates from this course would be well suited to careers as pet behaviour counsellors or animal welfare officers.
