Some of our course areas require applicants to attend an interview before an offer can be made. Interviews take place at regular intervals during our applicant afternoons.
If you are invited, please ensure that you inform the Admissions Office if you are able to attend or not by answering the specific questions on your invitation email. Please also make sure that you complete and return the vocational log if you were asked to.
If you have any questions not answered here you can contact the Admissions Office via email: email@example.com or telephone: 01952 815000 (9am-5pm Monday-Friday)
The main purpose of the interview is to assess your suitability for the course and it will also give you an opportunity to decide if Harper Adams University is the place for you! We want to ensure that you have an understanding of the course which you have applied for. For some courses we will also use the interview to discuss your work experience to date. This will allow the Course Manager to make you an individual offer for the right course in line with your career aspirations.
After you arrive and register, a light buffet lunch is provided followed by an introduction to the University. You will then go to a course talk for your specific area and take a tour of the campus. You will have your interview with a member of the course team. At the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to talk to staff about student finance, learner support and accommodation. The afternoon is expected to finish around 4pm.
You are welcome to bring a guest, who will be extended the same hospitality as above. Guests receive an extended tour of the campus while interviews take place. Please let us know if you are bringing a guest with you when you reply to the invitation.
You should expect to be asked questions relating to your chosen area of study, such as recent developments, issues in the media and questions of a technical nature. You will have the opportunity to reflect on any recent work experience that you have undertaken and will be able to discuss your career aspirations. The main thing that we want to know is why you want to do the course. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have relating to the course or the University.
Please check your invitation letter. If we need you to supply specific documents, such as original qualification certificates, it will be specified in your invitation.
There is no strict dress code for Applicant Afternoons so smart casual dress is a good idea. You are attending an interview but you will also be taken on a walking tour of the campus so ensure that you wear suitable footwear and have appropriate outerwear for the weather.
Please see the campus map which shows the location of various car parks available on Campus. You MUST register your vehicle via the link that was enclosed with your interview letter.
The campus map shows the location of the Faccenda Centre (21). Please follow signs for Interview Car Parking to direct you to the allocated parking area which we try to get as close to the Faccenda Centre as possible. Allocated car parking will be available from 12.00pm.
We aim to make a decision on applications within 2 weeks of interview, however at peak times it could take a little longer. If there is an expected delay beyond this, we will keep affected applicants informed.
If you would like to stay overnight and extend your visit to the area we have listed some local accommodation below. Alternatively, contact the Short Course and Conference Office on 01952 815324 to discuss the possible availability of University accommodation.
Alternative, off-site accommodation is also available.
