Course description

This programme will be delivered wholly online - we welcome applications from the UK and overseas. 

International agri-business has developed into a well-integrated system that combines efficient production at farm level with a well-ordered supply chain, managing the delivery of food products into international markets.

This course provides you with an advanced understanding of the global challenges and opportunities as well as principles and practices of modern international agri-business management.

It develops you as a professional in the rural economy or supporting the rural economy:

  • Agricultural supply industries,
  • Agricultural trade industries,
  • Agricultural cooperatives,
  • Agricultural consultancy companies,
  • Industry associations,
  • Government agencies
  • and other allied organisations.

Working in the international agri-business environment encompasses a wide variety of functions:

  • Finance,
  • Human resources,
  • Customer services,
  • Logistics,
  • Marketing,
  • Cross-cultural exporting and importing
  • Purchasing.

The course develops your knowledge of agricultural systems, finance and human resource management.

It also provides a detailed insight into marketing and the industries supporting agricultural production, processing, transportation and supply chain strategy

You will apply key concepts to the formulation of effective international business strategies. Case studies will allow you to focus on sectors of specific interest.

You will develop and broaden your expertise, build critical skills and enhance your career prospects across a variety of management and decision issues.

Career options are broad, spanning the global agri-business sector.

You might wish to enrol onto this programme if you

  • have a technical background in an agribusiness discipline and have taken or aspire to take a management position. You will use the course to to develop your business management skills and gain a greater appreciation of the global perspective

or

  • you do not have a background in agri-business but have started or plan to start a career in agribusiness industries or government or non-government organisations supporting or advising the rural economy and agricultural trade. You would develop an in-depth understanding of the industry in the global context and advance your managerial skills.

 

At PgC level, you will study three core modules and a fourth optional module from an approved list. 

At PgD level, you will study the PgC modules plus four modules: three core modules, plus a fourth optional module from an approved list.

To gain your MSc you will complete the PgC and PgD modules then do a Masters Research Project,

Fees

University fees will be £9,500 for UK/ROI students and £16,380 for overseas. 



Scholarships for overseas online delivery MSc students 

In the inaugural year of the online MSc programme in International Agri-business and Food Chain Management scholarships worth £4,480 will be offered to qualifying overseas students.

Applicants should state that they are seeking this scholarship support in their personal statement when applying to join the programme.
