The course

Develop an exciting and rewarding engineering career based around the management and technical support of the latest in the agricultural and/or construction plant machinery industries.

The Product Support Engineering degree programme aims to provide graduates who can function effectively as members of engineering teams within the agricultural mobile machinery and construction plant based industries, taking particular responsibility for product support, product specialist and technical sales roles.

Key aspects developed during the degree programme include:

  • A core mechanical engineering foundation.
  • A detailed understanding of current technologies and the requirements of their working environment(s), to ensure industry readiness from day one.
  • The capability to diagnose and report technical failures.
  • The skills to successfully maintain the relationships between manufacturer / importer, dealer, customer and end user – in order to maximise suitability and up-time of engineered products in their applications.

Work placement

Students spend their third year on placement, where they work as engineers within product support, product specialist, technical sales and demonstration roles for companies such as:

  • CLAAS UK Ltd
  • CNH
  • JCB
  • AGCO
  • John Deere

You will be helped to find the right role by an engineering placement manager based at Harper Adams. Placement roles are generally paid positions.
