CROPSS Summer School

Sunday 30 June - Saturday 6 July 2019

The World needs feeding. Globally, crops are under attack from a huge array of pests and diseases. To protect against these we need a cadre of well-trained and informed crop protection scientists and advisors.

The CROPSS Summer School is aimed at all undergraduates except those in their final year, at a UK or Irish University, interested in meaningful and rewarding career in crop protection and allied subjects. The BBSRC funded CROPSS Summer School is a chance to get to grips with the concepts and disciplines involved in modern crop protection.

Applications are now open for the 3rd CROPSS Summer School taking place at Harper Adams University.  We have just 15 places for any undergraduate in their 1st or 2nd year at any UK or Irish University with an interest in crop protection and applied ecological careers and research. We are offering a BBSRC-funded one week residential course in rural Shropshire and a chance to immerse yourself in entomology, plant pathology, weed science, nematology, applied ecology, fieldwork and networking.  We have guest speakers and workshop leaders from across the breadth of crop protection science. Alongside an exciting scientific programme we have a strong careers programme and our PhD and MSc mentors will be on hand with support, advice and a packed social programme.

If you have any questions about the nature of the school, the activities you will undertake or any access arrangements that might need to be confirmed prior to applying, please get in touch with Professor Simon Leather.

Please download, complete and return the application form (see Event downloads below). Do make sure you read the forms carefully and complete all the necessary sections returning to sleather@harper-adams.ac.uk no later than 6 April 2019.
