Harper Adams Rural Research Conference

The Harper Adams Rural Research Conference (HARRC) seeks to draw together a broad range of academic and practitioner papers and presentations to consider and inform rural land and property policy and practice, embracing a range of disciplines both as a conference, and within papers.

The conference programme will include prominent rural sector researchers and commentators, paper presentations, guided walks, a panel discussion and debate, along with generous catering and break out periods to allow networking, the forging of new contacts and the strengthening of old ones.

Presentations include:

  • Health and safety in the rural sector from HSE Head of Agriculture
  • Historical perspectives for agriculture and lessons for building future resilience
  • Novel heads of loss in compulsory purchase claims
  • Renewable energy - research from local authority Sustainability Commissioning Officer
  • International study on farm tenancy length and business/land use impact
  • Agreements regarding natural capital
  • The Worcestershire Farmsteads Project
  • Ecosystems services

  • Valuation behaviours in a rural context
