The Food Science Summer School has been designed to provide year 12 students with the opportunity to explore the topic of food science and develop understanding of the fascinating and rewarding careers that the food industry has to offer.
The Food Science Summer School is a three day event which starts on Monday evening and finishes on Thursday afternoon. During the Summer School students will take part in hands-on food product development, visit a food factory, explore the food chain from farm to fork, and participate in some underpinning lectures that shed light on the absorbing world of food science and technology.
It is intended that after their Summer School experience participants will forever see the food they eat very differently.
The answer to the question depends very much on you, your academic interests and your career intentions. If you are interested in food and would like to understand something of food science and technology and want to know more about careers in the food industry then the Summer School is definitely for you.
At Harper Adams University we would like to receive applications from smart Year 12 students who have intellectual curiosity and enjoy learning about the world they live in and the food they eat. Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement explaining their interest in food and the food industry as well as a letter of support from a science teacher. It will be fine if applicants wish to attend with a friend, but to ensure that we give opportunity to a wide range of schools we must limit numbers for any one school to two students only.
Please complete the application form and return to us via email or post.
