“This academic year has been pretty disrupted, yet our students have shone through in getting on with their academic work as well as engaging in the process of securing their scholarships. We are immensely proud of all they have achieved so far, and we know that they will go on to be excellent ambassadors, not only for the University, but also for the various industries and professions in which they will eventually forge their careers.”
Dr David Llewellyn
Vice-Chancellor
Message from the Development Trust Chairman
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all, students and sponsors, to this year’s Scholarship Presentation which, whilst different in its format, still enables us to celebrate our scholars’ achievements.
Today, we are holding the Development Trust’s 15th annual Scholarship Presentation, and I am delighted that we are awarding an incredible £504,300, to be shared between 136 students.
The Development Trust team processed a record 773 applications this year, 332 students made it to interview and 136 of those successfully secured awards – congratulations to you all!
These scholarships take a variety of forms from help with tuition fees, to scholarships accompanying paid work placements, support of final year projects, and in some instances, employment upon graduating. The awards are highly competitive and the scholars had to work hard to be successful.
Having been involved in some of the interviews, I can say that our students really are an inspiration who never cease to amaze me, and I am confident that the future of the Agri-Food industry will be in good hands.
Therefore, I would like to give my sincere thanks to all our sponsors, whose support of our students, at the very start of their careers, is simply invaluable.
Many of our sponsors have been involved in the Scholarship Programme for a number of years, and we are grateful for your loyalty, but we are delighted that we have also welcomed eight new sponsors this year. All of your support, in particular given the current situation, is hugely appreciated.
Our thanks also go to Doris Taylor, Head of Development, who despite all the restraints of COVID, has worked tirelessly, with the support of Caroline Mason and Anthony Millington, to ensure the continued success of the Development Trust.
Thank you once again and many congratulations to this year’s scholars!
With my very best wishes
Clive Gurney

Welcome to our first online Scholarship Presentation
We’ve had to change the way we do things this year, due to the current circumstances, but we still want to congratulate this year’s scholars and give thanks to our generous sponsors - just in a different way.

The Development Trust wishes to thank all of its generous sponsors for the invaluable help and support they have provided to students of Harper Adams University.
How to get involved
Harper Adams University’s mission is ‘To provide world leading higher education and research for the delivery of sustainable food chains and the protection of rural resources for future generations’.
The Development Trust directly connects companies, alumni and motivated benefactors, who feel passionate about this mission, with Harper - either through the provision of scholarships of individual students across our portfolio of specialist courses or through philanthropic investment in University infrastructure and buildings.
If you feel inspired to also support our students and the University, please get in touch for a chat.
