For 38 years, Vernon worked for Natwest Bank as a Business Manager and latterly an Agricultural Business Manager. Born and raised in Shropshire, Vernon spent his early years helping out with the family pork butcher business in Newport. Farming and agriculture have always been an important part of his life. In 1981, he married Sue, a farmer’s daughter from Hinstock. They live in Edgmond and have two grown up children and two granddaughters together.
Since 2008, Vernon has worked at Harper Adams University as Housekeeping Supervisor. Today, he’s also Director of his son’s successful engineering company and enjoys completing engineering projects of his own at home. In the last few years, he renovated his father-in-law’s Series 3 Landrover. You might see him out and about in his much-loved Landy on site. When he isn’t at work, Vernon enjoys spending time outdoors taking photographs of the local landscape and gamekeeping for his local shoot.
