Emma Folkes

Governor Profile

Emma Folkes is a Partner in the Food and Farming team at Burges Salmon LLP in Bristol.

Before training as a solicitor, Emma gained an undergraduate degree in geography from Girton College, Cambridge and completed her post-graduate conversion to law at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Having moved to London for the purposes of her training contract, Emma spent four years in the City post-qualification before returning to the West Country.

Emma specialises in non-contentious, agricultural property work including the buying and selling of farms and estates and the grant of tenancies. Emma also advises on a wide range of issues arising from the ongoing management of rural land. Her client base is UK wide and includes landowners, farmers, national institutions and charities. Emma is a member of the Agricultural Law Association.

She is married to Oliver, a Chartered Building Surveyor and together they enjoy making the most of weekends in the Somerset countryside.
