    Governor Profile

Liz Salter has a Masters degree in Manufacturing Engineering, graduating from St Catharine’s College, Cambridge in 1990.

She spent the first 15 years of her career in the electronics industry, in a range of engineering and operations management roles. Liz first moved into freelance consultancy when her children were small in order to work more flexibly, and in 2010 joined a small team of associate consultants working for the knowledge transfer organisation based in the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) at the University of Cambridge.  She now works with manufacturing companies of all shapes and sizes on the development and implementation of their business and operational strategies, with particular interest and experience in automation and the broader world of Digital Manufacturing.  Liz enjoys helping to foster links between industry and academia, aiming to help ensure that research outputs are industrially useful, and that industry can apply the latest thinking whenever possible.

With one child at university, and the other having recently started work, Liz is making the most of having more time to spend on her bike in the Warwickshire countryside, and in Europe when she can.
