Ruth Hallsworth, Millichope Estate Officer Manager, presents Hannah's scholarship

Hannah Stanbury, 20, from Uffculme, Devon has received a scholarship worth £1,250 to assist with her studies at Harper Adams University.

Hannah, a second year Bsc (Hons) Countryside and Environmental Management student, has been awarded to the Millichope Foundation Scholarship.

The former student of Richard Huish College, Somerset, said: “I am extremely grateful to be awarded the Millichope Foundation Scholarship as it will allow me to undertake practical courses to specialise into the area of farm environment consultancy, which is what I am extremely interested in.

“Also, being able to say that I have been awarded this scholarship will hopefully show employers that I am a suitable candidate for future positions.

“I would like to become a farm environmental consultant, working alongside farmers to increase sustainable food production along with profitable agriculture.”

Hannah, who was raised on a poultry farm, is treasurer of the university’s Conservation Society and has taken part in volunteer activities with the Shrewsbury and Newport Canals Trust, helping with projects such as scrub removal and hedge laying.
