Jake Simpkins, a 21-year old Countryside Management degree student, has been awarded the John Hepworth Forestry Scholarship at Harper Adams University.
Jake, from Hullavington, Wiltshire, said: “This scholarship enables me to build a career in a field I am passionate about. Both my future knowledge and my employability will be boosted by it Thank you very much to my sponsor, John Hepworth, and lecturer Jim Waterson for making this available to me.
Jake is in his second year at Harper Adams University, having previously attended Lackham Agricultural College. He is an active Young Farmer and a member of various Christian churches. His hobbies include clay and game shooting and has an ambition to one day use his learned knowledge to help future young entrants to the forestry and wildlife sector.
