Lewis Trim, 19, from Honiton, Devon, has been awarded the Mercer Scholarship at Harper Adams University.
Lewis is a second year BSc (Hons) Agriculture student and said of the £1,500 award: “I am very privileged that I have been chosen and I hope I can use the money in a way the sponsors approve of.
“I would like to be able to attend conferences, farm walks and other agricultural events and this scholarship will help to cover this.
“I am hoping to complete my placement year on a mixed farm, preferably with beef and arable, and my current experience covers dairy farming at home.
“My long-term ambitions are to manage a farm, be it at home or elsewhere, in a way that makes it a model for future farming.”
