William Ashton, 19, an MEng agricultural engineering student, from Leyburn, North Yorkshire, is the new McConnel scholar at Harper Adams University.
William is a first-year student and was successful in being awarded three scholarships this year - from McConnel, The Douglas Bomford Trust and The Studley College Trust.
He said: "I applied for the scholarships because I wanted to form links with companies in the industry and also to become more involved in the Institution of Agricultural Engineers, a sister charity to the Douglas Bomford Trust.
"Being given the scholarships has made me more confident in my abilities. I have been given a helping hand towards by career ambitions. And the reduction in financial pressue has enabled me to focus more on my studies."
Upon completion of his studies, William aspires to become a successful, chartered Agricultural Engineer.
