Emily Hughes is the new BPC/Moy Park scholar at Harper Adams University.
The first year foundation degree Agri-Food Marketing student will receive her financial award and a placement job at Moy Park, one of Europe’s largest poultry producers.
The placement involves the provision of technical information to farmers, flock monitoring, implementation of hygiene and biosecurity procedures, farm assessments, record keeping, sampling and health and safety.
Emily said:
“I first heard of the award at the scholarship fair held at Harper Adams. I was really interested in a scholarship as I knew it would look really good on my future CV and that the extra money would be useful for tuition fees.
“The advisors on the stand taught me about Moy Park as a company and I learned how big it was on a global scale. I was really impressed by the information provided to me and I knew that if my application was accepted, I would be well taught throughout my placement and would meet loads of useful contacts to carry my career forward.
“I feel excited about becoming a scholarship student with the BPC and apprehensive to start working for Moy Park!”
Emily, 21, from Hadley, Shropshire, is keen to pursue a successful career within the agricultural industry that offers opportunities to travel, gain experience within different sectors and develop new and existing skills.
