Laura Todhunter, 19, from Wigton, Cumbria, is the new British Poultry Council – Banham Poultry scholar at Harper Adams University.

The first year FdSc Agriculture student receives £4,500 this year and a paid 52-week work placement with Banham.

She said: “My year-long placement will involve spending a period of time in the different sectors of the business – Hatchery, Broiler farms and Breeder farms

“I have a great interest in developing my knowledge and experience in the poultry industry and to get the chance to work in a business environment.

“I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to learn and gain valuable experience,” added Laura, who would one day like to manage her own business in the poultry sector.
