New library ways

January update

Due to the new lockdown that came in on January 5th, the library is only open on a Monday afternoon from 12:00 - 17:00 for Click and Sit, and Friday morning from 08:00 - 12:00 for Click and Sit and Click and Collect.

For both of these services, you will have been advised in recent communication from the University as to whether you are able to travel onto campus, and to use these services accordingly.

On Monday - Friday from 09:00 - 17:00, our remote support services are operating. You can contact us via LiveChat on the library homepage; you can email us at or you can chat to us on Teams. You can also book a one to one appointment with a librarian to help with research and referencing queries.

Welcome back!

We are delighted to be open again. There have been lots of changes to help keep people safe.View the Student Union guide to using the Library For the moment you will be unable to just walk in to use the Library so we have set up new services to help you still do the things you need to do. We will constantly review these; everyone is dealing with a lot of unknowns at the moment. If you have suggestions for how we can improve services while maintaining safety please contact us on or chat with us by clicking the tab on the library homepage

Don't forget your ID Card

You will need your ID card to be able to swipe into the Library at all times. This is essential as we are obliged to carry out Track and Trace.

Click and Collect

Due to the pandemic we are temporarily forced to use a Click and Collect system for print books. Request the books you want on HOLLY, and we will find them and issue them for you. Government guidelines mean that we have to put them into quarantine for 3 days after this, so you will get an email with a time slot when you can come and pick them up

January update - you can only collect books on a Friday morning between 08:00 and 12:00. Requests need to be placed by the preceding Monday lunchtime to enable staff to get them ready for Friday collection.

Returning books

We will do this for you. Just put them in the black book returns bin in the library lobby which is open 24 hours a day. Check your account the next day to see that they have been returned.

Click and Sit

Despite social distancing requirements we have made over 100 study spaces available in the Library. You need to book in advance if you want to use one. Try out the Click and Sit system which sits allows you to book for up to 3 hours a day. This video explains

January update - you can only book a seat on a Friday morning between 08:00 and 12:00. or Monday afternoon between 12:00 and 17:00

Dissertations 2020

This year, all HRP's were submitted online only. This means the library has no access to this years dissertations. IT are currently investigating ways to make them accessible to you, but we have no date yet as to when this will be.
