Welcome Hub

The Welcome Hub on the group floor provides a number of services including:

Self-service machines

There are two self service machines located on the group floor of the library. These machines can be used to issue books and renew loans.

Note: the self-service machines close 10 minutes before library closing.

Rules

The library is a shared space, so please respect other library users. We have very few rules in the library. 

Please follow these rules for everyone's benefit: 

  • keep noise to a minimum - the library is a place for studying. Report a noise issue?
  • hot drinks are only allowed in mugs or cups with a securely attached lid
  • cold food may be eaten in the library, but not hot food
  • switch your mobile to silent.
  • tidy up rubbish.
  • re-shelve any unissued books. 

Study desks

There is a large number of study desks located throughout the library, providing quiet study areas. Report a noise issue?

Study rooms

There are a variety of study rooms in the library including 7 group study rooms and two silent study room - three of the group study rooms can be booked by students.

Lockers

There are six lockers located near the main stairs on the ground floor that can be booked for the day. Ask at the Welcome Hub for further information.

Enquiry Desk

The librarians on the enquiry desk, located on the first floor, can help you with all manner of enquiries including finding journal articles, electronic information and referencing.

Information Services

IS Service Desk
The IS Service Desk, located on the first floor, provides advice and support with all IT and Audio-Visual (AV) related issues. 24hr telephone support is also provided.

WiFi
Free WiFi is available in the library. Visitors should ask at the IT Service Desk how to connect to the wireless network. All students are provided with details of how to connect to the wired and wireless networks on arrival at the university.

Open access computers
There are a large number of open access computers located on the first floor.

24hr computer room
A 24 hour function room is available in the Weston Building.

E-learning
The E-learning department is located next to the laundry

Other facilities

The Bamford Library building is also home to the Kaldi Café and the Engineering Design Centre.
