Printing, Scanning and Photocopying

The library has five combined printers and photocopiers - two on the ground floor and three on the first floor.
Two upstairs and  one downstairs print in colour. . The machines are operated by placing your ID card on the reader on the side of the printer or you can key in your login details.
The charges are 3p per black and white A4 copy.  Full details are available by each photocopier.  You can put money on your student ID card online
You may also use the black and white printers to scan items and email or save them at no cost.

Note: the law limits how much you are allowed to copy from a book or journal, see Copyright

Scanned copies of print book chapters and journal articles

For distance learners and taught postgraduates who are not on campus we provide a scanning service. If a journal article is not available electronically, but we have the print journal (check the library catalogue on Find it @ Harper to find out) we will scan and email the article to you, just complete a scanning request form. We can also scan 1 chapter or 10%, whichever is greater, of a book. In the section where we ask you to tell us where you found the details of the item please put 'print journal/book at Harper, scanning request'. For copyright reasons you are only allowed one article from each issue of a journal.

There is a self-service binding machine by the downstairs printers. Binding combs and covers are available for purchase in the Library. Please ask for help if you are not sure how to use the machine.
