Posted 18 February 2016
Second year agri-business student Reuben Wilson is the first recipient of the new Harper Adams University Hospitality Scholarship.
The £1,500 scholarship, launched last autumn, is funded entirely by gratuities given to staff in the catering department and conference office.
Catering Manager David Nuttall said, on behalf of the staff teams who donated their tips: “he catering department work tirelessly to give the best service possible and these donations really highlight their efforts. The whole team hope this scholarship benefits students at Harper Adams”.
Business Support Manager Lisa Chapman added, as a former Harper Adams student (BA Business Management Marketing) I’m delighted that the hard work and dedication of service departments has allowed for this wonderful scholarship opportunity to be offered.”
Mr Nuttall congratulated Reuben at the 2016 Development Trust Scholarships Presentation ceremony this week.
Reuben, 19, from Rocester, Staffordshire, said: “I consider myself privileged to be awarded the HAU Hospitality scholarship, and would greatly encourage other students to look into all the scholarships that are on offer."
Reuben, who would love to work in new product development in the agriculture or food industry, also received a scholarship from the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society.
