Transport of Animals by Road (Short Journey)
Who is this course for?
Legislation, which came into force in 2007, has new rules covering the movement of animals. This will affect those who move animals as part of farm business activities. It requires anyone transporting animals over 65km for up to 8 hours to have an accredited qualification endorsed for the relevant species being transported.
Online assessment usually takes place a week after training. Generally two assessments may be taken for individual species: cattle & sheep, cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, horses and gamebirds.

- Planning a short journey by road
- Checking animals and their fitness to travel
- Causes and signs of stress in animals
- Space allowances, stocking densities and segregation requirements
- Handling and animal welfare in travel
- Post journey requirements.
