    Bill Allen Memorial Scholarship 2024-25 (supported by Organic Farmers & Growers CIC)

    Who can apply?

    • Applicants must have been offered a conditional or unconditional place on the MSc/MRes Agro-ecology programme at Harper Adams University
    • Both full-time and part-time students are eligible to apply
    • You must be starting your studies in Autumn 2024
    • Have achieved, or expected to achieve, a minimum of a 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent experience at the point of application. If an applicant is awaiting their degree results at the point of application, the award may be offered conditionally upon confirmation of the applicant achieving a 2:1  Honours degree or higher or having equivalent experience

    The scholarship

    Should a full-time student be awarded, the successful scholarship recipient will receive an award valued at up to £4,000 for the academic year that they study on campus at the University. The scholarship will be payable in two equal parts; half to be paid in February 2025 and the balance in May 2025. 

    If a part-time student is awarded the successful scholarship recipient will receive an award valued at up to £2,000 for their first year of study and a further award valued at up to £2,000 for their second year of study.  The year one scholarship will be payable in February 2025 and the year two scholarship will be payable in February 2026.

    They must pass all modules of study and submit a letter of thanks for the sponsor to the Development Trust prior to the receipt of each payment.

    This is a competitive award which will be evaluated on the merit of the submitted application, along with academic achievements to date and interview. The decision of The Bill Allen Memorial Scholarship Panel is FINAL and they reserve the right to withdraw their award at any time should they feel this action is required.

    Shortlisted applicants are required to attend a panel interview and prepare and give a 5-10 minute presentation during the interview based on the following topic: “In the face of current climate, soils and biodiversity crisis how do you feel farm support and food policy should address these challenges".
