The world needs new talent ... inspiring the next generation.
Our job is to nurture not only the potential of our current students but pupils of all ages, who will be the engineers, scientists, agriculturalists and entrepreneurs of the future. We are well known for our outstanding agriculture degrees, but did you know we offer many more subjects including animals, wildlife, zoology, vet medicine, veterinary nursing and physiotherapy, and food science, technology and innovation. We also specialise in land and property management, the countryside and environment and sustainable business. Subjects to inspire your pupils. Subjects that can lead to exciting jobs.
The Schools and Colleges Outreach Team works closely with students, teachers and careers advisors to inspire and encourage youngsters to explore higher education and the rewarding careers it can lead to. We can provide information and support on careers, choosing and applying for a course, and what to expect from uni life. We collaborate with schools and colleges both locally and around the country, offering workshops, presentations, and activities that introduce higher education in a fun and memorable way.

Harper Adams’ outreach team and wider university staff are able to support you in delivering your careers programme. We have trained and identified staff who can deliver workshops around careers and opportunities.
Our successful outreach menu is broken down into Key Stage groups, however, we have many diversity considerations meaning content can be tailored further to meet certain needs or knowledge gaps where applicable.
Our current course portfolio focuses heavily on a range of STEM subjects, our dedicated outreach team can deliver a range of curriculum linked careers sessions. Where students can explore the different careers and opportunities within our specialist sector. There are also a number of opportunities to be able to do this through larger on campus events.
We offer a range of sessions in school and on campus that allow students to meet with current Harper Adams Employees including our outreach team, students can learn about the skills that are important to the workplace and our sectors. There is also opportunity to engage with other employers through some of our larger on campus events that help explore careers.
We offer some work experience opportunities to students during Year 10, these can be based in parts of the university such as Animals and Labs. Please note these are limited and are on a first come first serve basis. We can also can help support students gaining relevant agriculture experience when they have applied, through our Access to Agriculture scheme.
We can offer meaningful encounters with us as a Higher Education Institution, through school/college sessions or via visits to our campus and also virtual sessions.. This offers students the opportunity to consider the benefits of our Sandwich course (4 years, including 1 year placement) and also opportunities around Higher Degree Apprenticeships. Pupils would have the chance to meet staff and students at the university and be exposed to our learning environment.
To support careers advisers and teachers we offer an annual Teachers and Advisers conference, whereby we give staff the opportunity to meet with a range of our professional academics, helping highlight further opportunities for your students.
