Harper Cymry/Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Student Award

Deadline for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 14 June 2022

This award was established in 1999 by the late Bill Ratcliffe, a Harper Adams Fellow and founder of the Harper Cymry alumni association, and is open to final year undergraduate students of Harper Adams University who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Have been resident in Wales for 5 years or more
  • Have contributed to the activities of the Harper Cymru student club
  • Possess a good academic record in higher education (please note, this is not necessarily the most important requirement)
  • Have made a positive contribution to the broader student community
  • A good future ambassador for Harper Adams University

The award will be presented during the prestigious 2022 RWAS Show awards ceremony.  The recipient will receive £250 and automatic eligibility for membership of Future Farmers of Wales. In submitting an entry, candidates must ensure their intention of attending his ceremony. See the document under 'Downloads' below for more information, including instructions on how to apply. 

Application Procedure

Your application should indicate how you fulfil the criteria given above and should include the following three items:

  1. A copy of your CV
  2. No more than 600 words outlining your main interests, personal achievements, and future ambitions.  Also include details of your involvement in college life and ideas for the Harper Cymry alumni (ex-student) society activities.
  3. The signed Privacy and Data Protection Notice  Note that you can type your name into the signature box  and as this is sent to us by email we accept it as an electronic signature.

Interviews of shortlisted applicants will be held by Microsoft Teams in early July, date to be confirmed.

Applications should be submitted by email to by 12 noon on Tuesday 14 June 2022. The subject title of the email should include the words Harper Cymry Award.
