New Agrii Undergraduate Scholarship: Amy Watkins

    19 June 2018

Amy Watkins, BSc (Hons) Geography and Environmental Management student, is the first recipient of the new Agrii Undergraduate Scholarship at Harper Adams University.

Amy, 20, from Llandrindod Wells, Powys, said: “It’s a massive achievement for me and I’m delighted to be offered such a valuable opportunity by a company which is of great interest to me.

“I’m really looking forward to working as part of their team, and learning new skills along the way.

“The scholarship will assist me by funding my university fees, and will also enable me to work towards further qualifications, such as my trailer test and pesticide courses.

“My scholarship includes a placement year with Agrii, involving six months in Buckingham and a further six months in Essex.

“The first half will involve selling seeds and working with the manufacturers of our agro-chemicals. The second half will involve research and development, working on trials and experiencing crop development from a soil and climatic perspective.

“After graduating from Harper, my ambition is to encourage sustainable agriculture. I believe this can be achieved by working with farmers, to help them understand how they can sustain our environment. I’d also love to travel further afield, experiencing how agriculture varies both within the UK and globally.

“I’m extremely thankful for Agrii contributing towards my studies, and hope my contributions during my placement year will be a benefit to the company.”
