Rebecca Yarnold, BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Farm Business Management student, has received a Jerman Scholarship at Harper Adams University.
Rebecca, 21, from Shifnal, Shropshire, said: “This scholarship will allow me to complete extra courses that I wish to take at Harper Adams including; trailer test and telehandler test.
“The funding will mean that I can better plan for my final year at Harper and further my career prospects afterwards.
“During my placement year, I’ve worked on a dairy farm milking 530 cows in Cheshire. This was a great experience and has helped develop my knowledge within the industry as I’ve come from a non-farming background.
“I’m hugely thankful to the late Mr and Mrs Jerman for their generosity to the student at Harper as well as myself.
“After graduation, I will be leaving Harper with a view of travelling to New Zealand to experience farming and the way they operate their dairy systems. From this experience, I then hope to return to the UK with better skills and knowledge and eventually become a successful dairy farm manager.”
