Last Thursday HAU hosted a visit from the Business Engagement Lead and nine PhD students from the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures at Sheffield University.
The students are recruited globally on very generous stipends and trained in public and government engagement, in addition to their multidisciplinary research project on an aspect of sustainability.
After an introduction to HAU, the Grantham Scholars toured some of the HAU research facilities and heard excellent talks from Mark Rutter, Ed Dickin, John Reade, Mike Theodorou, Matt Reilly, and Jonathan Gill.
Several other staff and HAU PhD students joined the group at a poster session over lunch. Some areas of common interest were identified for further detailed discussions on possible HAU involvement in future projects.
Final discussion before departure indicated that the aspect of HAU research which had impressed the Grantham Scholars most was the integration of different aspects of sustainability together and also integration with commercial application.
