On Tuesday (November 6), seven HAU staff and students attended the Syngenta Technology Showcase at Jeallot’s Hill Research Station in Berkshire.
As well as learning about Syngenta’s plans for future developments in crop protection, seeds and newer areas such as farm benchmarking, the visit gave the opportunity to see the Syngenta crop protection research and development facilities such as the US$8 million robot (ARTEMIS) conducting formulation experiments.
The day also included presentations from digital service SMEs such as Wefarm (which connects a million smallholder farmers in Africa through text messages).
Those attending were (from left to right): PhD student Wiza Mphande, Visiting Researcher Karina Cuba Silva, PhD student Jie Xiang, Postdoc KTP Associate Peter Mark, Professor Peter Kettlewell, PhD student Jeremiah Samaila and PhD student William Macalpine.
