Back in November last year Philippa Spence, a food stylist, came to Harper Adams to give a workshop to a group of second year Food Creativitiy students. Philippa ran a food styling workshop and afterwards, set the students a competiton which involved them uploading their own work to instagram over a period of six weeks using the hashtag 'HAUFoodStyle19'. The entries were judged by David Loftus who is a famous food photographer and has worked for the likes of Jamie Oliver, Prue Leith and Rachel Khoo.
Last week, Natalie Dawe was chosen as the winner and will receive a signed recipe book from David who commented, "A very thoughtful composition... Well spaced and planned... It tells a story and looks very delicate."
Natalie is incredibly grateful for the opportunuity and said, "I love being creative, especially with food and having the chance to work alongside a professional food stylist and photographer was so fun and interesting. Having never really done much food styling before, Pip's hints and guidance really inspired me to try out new techniques such as experimenting with colour, lighting and camera angles, something that I'd love to progress further with. The styling process was really enjoyable and is something anyone can have a go at!"
Natalie also had an input with creating an image which was used on some of Harper Adams' Christmas cards.
Below is Natalie's winning photograph as well as some of her other work.
