Agrii scholar: Poppy Bunting

Poppy Bunting, second year Bsc (Hons) Agriculture with Crop Management student and recipient of the Agrii Scholarship.

“Growing up on a family farm has undoubtedly influenced my aspiration to become an agronomist. I take every opportunity to gain experience in the field. I can often be found out crop walking with local agronomists as and when I can tie them down from their busy schedules!” says Poppy, 21.

“In addition to completing my degree, I am certain that this placement will be a significant aid in helping me to begin to move towards securing a career in agronomy. To be offered a chance to work with an industry-leading company is very motivating and I will be taking every opportunity to make the absolute most from my time with Agrii.”

Doing her research assured Poppy, from Dereham in Norfolk, that this was the placement for her, providing a springboard to her future career. “After my university career I am eager to work for an innovative company at the forefront of UK agriculture that provides long term solutions for the current issues faced in UK crop production.”

When Poppy isn’t studying, she can generally be found helping out on her family’s farm or at the local Young Farmers Club. “I am an enthusiastic member of Dereham Young Farmers and enjoy taking part in a variety of competitions including hockey, stock judging and Tug-of-War, while I been part of the organisation of social events such as our ‘Big Spring Fling’ where we have had a variety of Radio 1 DJ’s entertaining the local young farmer crowds. I have also completed a charity skydive jumping from 13000ft!”
