Hannah Bedford, 21, from Griffydam, Leicestershire is in the final year of her Animal Health and Welfare degree.
Although I am not from a farming background I have always been interested in animal science, in particular, health and welfare, in addition to having horses and dogs of my own.
During my second year of university I acquired my R-SQP qualification alongside studying for my degree, an example of my commitment and enthusiasm I have for the Animal Health Industry. I secured a placement year at Elanco Animal Health in the ruminant marketing department which was not only an extremely rewarding experience in which I learnt a lot, but has also inspired me to work in the industry after I graduate.
Following a successful and enjoyable placement year where I worked alongside marketing managers for the ruminant trade and veterinary product portfolios, I have been inspired to pursue a career in the Animal Health or Nutrition industry, in particular within marketing or sales. I believe this scholarship award is extremely valuable for me in terms of my future aspirations and I believe that the marketing or sales support of animal health and nutrition products is extremely valuable to farmers and veterinarians and positively impacts the agricultural industry.
I am extremely thankful to Mr Clarke for awarding me with a scholarship from the John Longwill agricultural scheme. I applied for the scholarship due to my future ambitions within the agricultural industry and also because the reward would be extremely valuable to me. I am honoured to receive this reward as it will not only support my final year studies in terms of purchasing academic materials, and renewing my R-SQP qualification but also give me the chance to join organisations to access a wider range of academic materials.
