Emily Morgan, 20, from Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly is a second year Bio Veterinary Science student and recipient of the ForFarmers Pig Industry scholarship.
Growing up on a sheep farm, Emily experienced many different aspects of agriculture. She explained that her motivation for applying for the scholarship came from wanting to try something different for her placement year.
“ForFarmers is the market leader in Europe and being able to undertake my placement year with them is a dream comes true. My placement year with ForFarmers will allow me to gain experience in all aspects of the company, allowing me to increase my skill base and employability, while gaining an understanding of how a global company operates. I am incredibly excited to start my placement year in August and can't thank ForFarmers enough for giving me this opportunity!
“In my spare time, I am an active member of my local young farmers club - Gelligaer YFC. I have been a keen member of the club since I was 13 years old, having completed at county and Wales level, notably achieving 2nd place In the Wales YFC junior public speaking competition. I also enjoy competing in the stock judging and entertainment's competition.
“While away at university, I have also taken on the role of club secretary to allow me to carry on being involved in the club from afar.”
