A Harper Adams University graduate from Cheshire has set up her own bee keeping business which not only produces honey, but also aims to educate people by running courses to increase awareness of bees and the important role they play.
Emma Buckley, who graduated in 2014, with BSc Hons Agri-Business and always knew she wanted to set up her own business. Her love of bees was developed through her father, David, a successful beekeeper producing honey for local businesses for over 53 years. With her dad’s experience, along with her own passion to raise awareness of the honey bee and how vital they are to agriculture and getting produce to our supermarket shelves, Emma set up Buckley’s Bees to promote the skill of bee keeping to younger generations.
“My dad has been a beekeeper for over 53 years, so I grew up around the bees and they have always been of interest.” Emma told the Crewe Commons.
It was while Emma was on a trip to New Zealand to see other beekeeping methods that she realised she was lucky to have her dad’s knowledge and experience at home. She added: “I realised in New Zealand that what I’ve got at hand, most people don’t have, and I’m very lucky to have my dad who has done it for so many years.”
