    Harper Adams in Ireland rewards young farmer with YFCU Trophy

    The alumni association Harper Adams in Ireland has presented to Co. Londonderry Young Farmers a perpetual award to be presented annually to the member in the 21-25 age group gaining the most CEO proficiency points.

    The award takes the form of a Galway crystal 12” Symphony vase. The first winner of the award is James Purcell, a member of the Dungiven YFCU for over 10 years, whose family farm on Terrydremont Road, Limavady.

    James chaired of the Agri and Rural Committee and sat on the Executive Committee of YFCU and is a past County Chair, Club Leader and Club Public Relations Officer. James has recently successfully organised the YFCU Agri and Rural Trip and the YFCU Agri Conference.

    To win the award James came top of his age group by competing and getting placed in the C.E.O. competitions within Young Farmers in Co. Londonderry, He successfully completed in stock judging, public speaking and group debating amongst other activities.

    James is an enthusiastic member of the YFCU and takes part in anything from stock judging to arts festivals, not only because he enjoys it but also because it encourages the junior and others club members to compete.
