A team from Shrewsbury High School has won Young Enterprise Shropshire’s Entrepreneurship Award – sponsored by Harper Adams University.
The all-girl team Carried Away produced and sold reusable bags printed with iconic images of Shrewsbury, which were sold – and regularly sold out – in the local area. Not only did the project scoop the Harper-backed prize at the Young Enterprise Celebration Event, but it also succeeded in the Most Profitable Business and Best Managing Director categories.
The awards were given out at the Telford Centre Hotel on 2nd May, with over 100 students attending from schools across Shropshire. 22 teams from schools across Shropshire competed for the coveted title of Young Enterprise Shropshire Company of the Year, which was won by Scrambled from Idsall School. Theirs was another novel and sustainability-themed business idea: making items from recycled Scrabble tiles.
Congratulations to Carried Away, and a big well done to all those entrepreneurial young people who took part.
