Abbie, BSc (Hons) Agriculture, spent her placement year on the 3000 acre Glympton Estate that boasts a large arable enterprise, sheep, pedigree Aberdeen Angus suckler herd, shoot and property letting.
During her placement year the estate saw its first lambing for nearly 20 years and Abbie threw herself into the challenge, taking it on almost single-handedly. As well as this Abbie was afforded machinery work experience as well as getting to drive a few of the estate’s classic cars.
Of the placement year Abbie said: “Winning is absolutely incredible and unexpected. The experience I got on placement was absolutely invaluable, I had lots of opportunities and I’m hopefully going back to Glympton Farms over the summer to do some more work for them.”
