Will Tooke, Foundation Agriculture with Mechanisation, spent his placement year working for GT Ramply & Sons in Cambridgeshire, a popular business farm with over 3,800 acres that homes a diverse range of enterprises including a shoot, log business and renewable energy.
Will quickly became a key part of the team thanks to his can do attitude, throwing himself into working with the harvest crew, as underkeeper on shoot days and as a log splitter during the winter. Will also found himself embracing building work as he built an impressive log shed to keep his hard chopped wood dry during rainier months.
“I really enjoyed working on a family farm and being involved with everything they did. They were more than happy to help with anything to do with my assignment and it gave me a great insight into managing farm staff and finances.”
