Tom Rouse, who studied at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Harper Adams University, has been awarded The Suffolk Agricultural Association (SAA) Rising Star Scholarship Award. The award will be presented to Tom on the first day of the Suffolk Show, organised by the SSA.
The scholar will receive a ticket to attend the 2020 Oxford Farming Conference as the Suffolk Scholar, a year's membership subscription to the under 30s Farmers Club in London and a year's membership subscription to the SAA.
The awards, which are in their first year, are aimed at 19 to 30-year-olds involved in agriculture or allied industries and aim to recognise the positive contributions applicants have made to the industry.
After finishing his postgraduate course, Tom joined Farmacy plc, a farm medicine company, in 2013 as a trainee agronomist. Since then, Tom has achieved his BASIS diploma in agronomy and now works throughout Suffolk, providing advice to growers.
The winner was chosen from a shortlist of three following an interview at the home of SAA in Ipswich.
