Harper Adams University Hospitality and The Studley College Trust Scholar: Maddie Evans

    31 May 2019

Maddie Evans, Agri-Food Marketing with Business Studies, has not only been awarded the Harper Adams University Hospitality scholarship but also the Studley College Trust Scholarship. Hailing from Upton-Upon-Severn in Worchester, Maddie applied to both scholarships to invest in her personal skills and boost her CV before going into employment.

On her two scholarships Maddie said: "To gain two competitive scholarships has been a tremendous achievement for me and something which I am extremely proud of. It has already given me great confidence and in the future will be a great selling point for me when applying for jobs. I would like to thank both the Harper Adams University Hospitality Scholarship and The Studley College Trust for sponsoring me through my last year so that I can strive to improve my skills through additional management courses to improve my CV for potential employers and also financially supporting me through my final year of university."

Maddie was brought up on her family's arable farm in Worcestershire, something which influenced her future career and study choices. Her course, which offers modules on everything from animal production to starting a business, has helped Maddie build on her overall goal of starting her own business in the future.

Maddie said: "Throughout college and university, I have always aspired to build my own business; when having the opportunity to work for John Deere on my placement year, I gained insight into a large global business and it also gave me the opportunity to network with other business owners. However, I feel that the corporate world is not for me and I would prefer to return to my roots and start my own business. I have visions of pursuing a career in the hospitality sector by developing a ‘Glamping’ business as a diversification enterprise based at our family farm."
