Carrie de Silva, Principal Lecturer in the Land, Farm and Agribusiness department attended the Inspire Summit earlier this month.
The annual conference and exhibition focuses on Diversity & Inclusion in the UK Construction, Engineering & Housing industries. By bringing people working within the sectors, the Summit explores how to create more diversity and inclusivity along with looking for methods to encourage more young people to consider a career in construction, engineering and housing.
Carrie de Silva said: “It was good to see the progress being made through formal initiatives and individual action to develop the diversity base of the property industry and increase the presence of women, LGBT and those with disabilities.
“All this needs work in the rural property sector as well, although at entry level we are now towards 50% female, unlike most sectors of surveying.”
Here at Harper Adams, there is a range of courses in Engineering and Land and Property Management available.
