Kate Dewally, Msci Bioveterinary Science, has been awarded the Dalehead foods placement scholarship.
Kate, 20, decided to apply for the placement and scholarship with BQP in late September last year when she was advised by her placement tutor that this would be a brilliant opportunity allowing her to gain invaluable agricultural experience. She first encountered the Pig Industry in her first year module 'Large Animal Management' and enjoyed visiting farms and learning about the annual production cycles, health and nutrition.
Kate said: "From a very young age, I have demonstrated a keen interest in animal science, always finding comfort and enjoyment in looking after household pets, taking this interest further in my A-Level Studies. After looking at courses online, I noticed that Harper Adams offered Bioveterinary Science. This course appealed to me because it allowed me to get some agricultural experience as well as including modules, which appeal to my passion for nutrition, health and genetics.
"I would like to thank my sponsors for this amazing opportunity and am extremely looking forward to moving to Suffolk after my exams have finished."
